Note: The Jets playoff aspirations, which were basically nil, were officially terminated while they were playing in Vegas by virtue of a Kings victory which meant they would become just the fifth Presidents’ Trophy winner to fail to make the post-season the following season (share your thoughts as to why here). And then they “got smoked” as my old Grade 10 math teacher would say with the Golden Knights rolling to a 6-2 victory. No rest for them as they are in Salt Lake City to take on the Mammoth this evening so stay tuned for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 8 PM CT.
Note II: This evening, join us at Boston Pizza on Taylor Avenue for an Illegal Curve Watch Party starting at puck drop. After the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Utah, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 10:40 PM CT.
Note III: The Moose held an optional skate on Monday as they prepared for the final road trip of the regular season with the team fully knowing how important this will be as they jockey for position. We did learn why Jets prospect Kieron Walton (2024 6th) hadn’t been officially loaned to the AHL club of Manitoba and that’s because he’s dealing with an injury although he is rehabbing with the team. They travel to Chicago today.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: The playoff dream dies in the desert, Jets lose 6-2 to Vegas. The dream technically died in the Pacific Northwest when the Kings beat the Kraken but the icing on the not making playoffs cake was the Golden Knights drubbing.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets fall to Vegas 6-2 and get eliminated from playoff contention. (Paywall). Some small solace in Mark Scheifele becoming the first ever Jets 2.0 player to get to 100 points.
