Note: The Jets were living on borrowed time with the Kings running their win streak to four games which extended their lead to five points and when all was said and done in the hockey game which took place between Winnipeg and Philadelphia, the remote playoff chances hit nearly 0% as the Flyers beat them down by a final score of 7-1. It was not a pretty game and the bench boss didn’t have any answers post-game. The team will fly to Vegas today and the only question mark is will they make any recalls from the AHL before they take off?
Note II: Two players that won’t be making the trip to Nevada and Utah to close out the road portion of the regular season are Morgan Barron who was ruled out for playing in any of the remaining games and Elias Salomonsson who is in a “good day, bad day” stretch and has yet to skate since the Jason Robertson reverse hit.
Note III: Most of the Moose stayed off the ice on Saturday as they look to build on the first 38 minutes from the game on Friday against the Stars which saw them build up a 4-0 lead. What they’ll hope to leave behind is the fact that they allowed Texas to tie the game and they had to win in a shootout. With the Admirals winning yesterday their hold on 4th in the Central is down to three points which is the same number of points they trail the Stars by who sit in 3rd (although Manitoba has a game in hand). A big crowd is expected this afternoon for the regular season home finale. Puck drop is at 2 PM CT.
Note IV: Only one Jets prospect was in action yesterday and it was the biggest game of his career to date. Down in Vegas, right-shot defenceman Garrett Brown (2022 4th) and his Denver Pioneers were taking on the Wisconsin Badgers for the National Championship. Brown’s club won two years ago but he was injured and didn’t play in the playoffs. His squad was down 1-0 in the 3rd when, for the second straight game, he picked up the primary assist on the game tying goal. He followed that up with another assist on what turned out to be the game-winning goal. He was on the ice defending the 2-1 lead when the final buzzer sounded. Now the question is whether he signs an NHL deal with the Jets.
