post-game recap

Winnipeg Jets edge Columbus Blue Jackets 2–1, finish road trip 3-1-0 in must-win game

Recap of the game.

The Jets knew they were going to be at least three points back if they won this game given the two teams ahead of them (Nashville and San Jose) were three points ahead of them and were playing each other. A loss meant they would have been five back with just six games to go. Which made this a must-win game in Columbus. And courtesy of Mark Scheifele, Kyle Connor and Connor Hellebuyck that’s just what they did picking up a clean two points and ending the four-game road trip with a 3-1-0 record.

Notable:

Felt like that might have been the fastest game the Jets have ever played in.

Quite the give and go between Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele to get the Jets even in the game. It was the 35th goal of the season for Connor and Scheifele’s was up to 59 assists and 93 points.

81 & 55 scored again to give the Jets a 2-1 lead in the 3rd. It was the 36th goal of the season for Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele up to 60 assists and 94 points which means he is still on pace to get to 100 points. Scheifele the first to get to 60 apples since Blake Wheeler.

With the game-winning goal Kyle Connor gets the 64th GWG of his career which puts him one back of Mark Scheifele who has 65.

With two assists Mark Scheifele is now two points shy of 900 points in his career.

Multi Point Game:

Kyle Connor 2G
Mark Scheifele 2A
