The Moose picked up a big win in their last game which helped them end their slide and re-established a three point lead on the Admirals for 4th in the Central. However, Milwaukee won their last game on Sunday which put them just one back of Manitoba (although the Moose have a game in hand). A win tonight would be massive to help them gain some buffer and it would tie them with the Stars for 3rd.
Lineup news:
Shaw-JAD-Di Giuseppe
Fagemo-Wagner-Duehr
Yoder-Yager-Chibrikov
Vitelli-Julien-Barlow
Phillips-Clague
Sautner-Bauer
Anhorn-Barteaux
Milic
Moose lineup:
Tyrel Bauer returns to the lineup after missing four straight games. Still no David Gustafsson or Alfons Freij.
Notable:
Jets goalie prospect Thomas Milic moves ahead of his goalie coach Drew MacIntyre on the All-Time games played list with his 88th.
It was an even opening period but the Marlies struck first on a goal that was close to goalie interference but not quite.
Chase Yoder picked a great time to score his first ever AHL goal as he tied the game for the Moose late in the 1st. After the goal is scored you see Brayden Yager have the presence of mind to grab the first ever goal puck. I always appreciate when guys recognize the moment.
A good defensive stick by the Marlies prevents Phil Di Giuseppe from scoring his 12th goal of the season which would have given the Moose a lead in the 2nd. He would get his revenge.
Jets prospect Nikita Chibrikov with the grip and rip strategy as he gets a visiting team bounce for his 6th goal of the season to make it 2-1 for the Moose.
What a pass by Marlies goalie Artur Akhtyamov who sends his teammate in for a great chance but Milic makes the stop.
Jets prospects Nikita Chibrikov (1G 1A) and Brayden Yager (2A) are having themselves a solid game over in Toronto. The duo connect on this chance but it’s fired wide.
Milic made his 20th save of the game after the Marlies forward splits the D and he kept his team up by one.
Di Giuseppe was denied on a glorious chance earlier in the game but not this time. The Toronto product gives the Moose a 3-1 lead early in the 3rd period in his hometown. That’s his 12th of the season.
Walker Duehr finished off this great sauce by Moose captain Mason Shaw on a shorthanded 2 on 1 which he rips home for his 15th of the season. It would put Manitoba up 4-1 over Toronto. For a low scoring (and shorthanded) Moose team that is not too shabby. That’s their 10th shorthanded goal of the season which ties them for 3rd most in the AHL.
Jaret Anderson-Dolan sealed the deal making it 5-1 for the Moose as the Marlies went for the early goalie pull.
A massive win by the Moose who end the road trip with a 5-1 victory over the Marlies and they tie the Stars for 3rd in Central (Texas plays later).
Excellent game from Thomas Milic who made 34 saves on 35 shots. And his team scored lots of goals which I haven’t written very often this season.
Multi-point game:
Nikita Chibrikov 1G 1A
Phil Di Giuseppe 1G 1A
Brayden Yager 2A
Mason Shaw 2A
