Game 70: Winnipeg Jets vs New York Rangers pre-game report

A look at the projected lineups and pre-game interviews.

The Jets have stumbled on this road trip losing big to Boston on Thursday before dropping a shootout in Pittsburgh on Saturday which included them giving up a 4-3 lead in the 3rd period. This team is running out of games to pick up points even though none of the teams ahead of them appear overly interested in running away with the second wild card spot.

New York was in Winnipeg six games ago and pummeled the home team pretty well. Given the home record for the Rangers at MSG and the fact they’ve lost three straight should put this game on fairly even footing.

The Jets now have two healthy D in Ville Heinola and Jacob Bryson after Neal Pionk returned to the lineup for the first time in over two months. Dylan Samberg left the game against the Pens after taking a puck to the face but head coach Scott Arniel said he would be fine. About the only change we anticipate is Eric Comrie getting the start in net. We will have to see if there are any other changes in warm-up.

Odds:

The Jets look to rebound after a shootout loss in Pittsburgh that saw them give up a third-period lead on the second half of a back-to-back. The Rangers, meanwhile, have dropped three straight and struggled on home ice (9-17-6). Winnipeg may not have much of an edge on paper, but this feels like a matchup that could be closer than it looks. For the latest Winnipeg Jets hockey odds, visit NHL betting site Betway.
