Thomas Milic turns aside 44 as Manitoba Moose top Calgary Wranglers 4–2

Recap of the game.

The Moose were not a happy bunch after surrendering six goals in the 2nd period on Friday which saw them drop the game by a final score of 7-2 to the Wranglers in Calgary. Today, they were looking to close out the four-game road trip with a measure of revenge and a critical two points as they battle a tight Central Division (from 2nd to 5th).

Lineup news:

Thomas Milic got the net back from Domenic DiVincentiis. Also Fabian Wagner came in for Jacob Julien.

Moose lineup:

Notable:

Isaak Phillips opened the scoring for the Moose in the game as he rips this shot to the back of the net after Jets prospect Brayden Yager won the faceoff back to him. That’s his 8th of the year. Yager got his 15th assist.

Phillips was just an assist away from the Gordie Howe hat trick as he dropped the gloves about a minute after he opened the scoring in Calgary.

Jaret Anderson-Dolan, in his hometown, puts Manitoba up 2-1 over Calgary as Jets prospect Danny Zhilkin makes the perfect pass to set up the go-ahead goal. As well Winnipeg prospect Colby Barlow also picked up an assist.

Don’t often see Tyrel Bauer get felled and it appeared to be some friendly fire. Wonder if he got caught by the blocker of Thomas Milic. He would return to the ice.

Another Manitoba goal scored by a Calgarian as Dylan Anhorn gives the Moose a 3-2 lead in the 3rd with his second of the season in his hometown.

Jets goalie prospect Thomas Milic with another 3rd period stop. He made 21 saves on 22 shots in the final frame alone. He had faced just 24 shots through first 40 minutes of the game. Ended the game with 44 saves on 46 shots.

David Gustafsson adding an insurance marker for the Moose. Gave them a 4-2 lead with a shade over a minute left in the game. That’s his 10th goal of the season.

The win improves the Moose to 28-21-5-1 which puts them 3rd in the Central. They are six back of the Wolves who are in 2nd with 68 points while they are two points up (with a game in hand) on the Stars and seven up (with a game in hand) on the Admirals.
