Note: The Jets held an optional practice on Friday as they looked to reset in preparation for a monumental test when they face the Avalanche this afternoon . No morning skate for Winnipeg with it being a matinee so stay tuned for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 3 PM CT.
Note II: This afternoon, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Colorado, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 5:40 PM CT.
Note III: The Moose looked like they were ready to go in Calgary last night as Tyrel Bauer and Alex Gallant had a big tilt just 14 seconds into this one before the visitors took a 1-0 lead into the 1st intermission. And then something historic happened as Manitoba gave up SIX goals in ONE period to find themselves down 6-1 after 40, After that the final frame was academic and they would go on to lose 7-2. They are off today.
Note IV: Pair of Jets prospects found the back of the net on Friday night, one in the OHL and one in the WHL, with both scoring game-winning goals. Over in the ‘O’ it was Kevin He (2024 4th) who looked like he’d been shot out of a rocket to score this one shorthanded while in the ‘W’ it was Oakbank’s Owen Martin (2025 3rd) who had two goals in a win.
Note V: What a difference a week makes as the Jets were on a roll when we last went live on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show and today they have lost two straight with a monumental task of taking on two red-hot teams in the Avs and Blues. We will have plenty to discuss so join us for two hours of hockey talk. We will also be joined by TSN reporter Danielle Bain and former NHLer turned analyst Martin Biron. Watch the show here.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: ‘Trial by fire’: Jets’ d-man Salomonsson cool under duress. One of the benefits of this potentially “lost season” will be the development of a prospect like Salomonsson who could have been still in the AHL but for injuries and now because of the trades from last week.

Winnipeg Sun: The top-ranked Avalanche roll into town to face the Jets. While it’s technically not a “must win” it sure seems like it falls into the “can’t lose” category.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets seek to find way through Avalanche. (Paywall). Will be interesting to see what their formula is going to be.
Global News: Consecutive home losses leave same question marks for Jets. For most folks I think it confirms what they’ve been seeing all season long.
Jets video:
TSN: Winnipeg Jets or Toronto Maple Leafs – Who’s been the bigger bust this year? Have the Jets or Maple Leafs been the bigger bust this season? If Toronto has to trade a goalie this summer, who should be the odd man out? Which team should Leaf fans cheer for in the playoffs? The TSN Hockey panel answers this and more in another edition of The Quiz.
Jets prospect news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets’ draft and development model should get a much-needed infusion of talent. (Paywall). That’s not a bag thing for the oldest and possibly one of the slowest teams in the NHL to get an organizational shot of youthful exuberance.
