Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | Mar 9, 2026

A daily roundup of Jets, Moose coverage — all the pro hockey news that matters in Manitoba and beyond.

Note: The Jets took Sunday off as they have a rare two day gap between games during this eight-game homestand which has seen them win the first three games and have picked up points in six straight contests. Today, they will hit the ice at 11 AM CST for a practice as they prepare to host Anaheim on Tuesday. Check back for the Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose, backstopped by an impressive 31-save performance by Jets goalie prospect Thomas Milic, defeated the Marlies 1-0 when Parker Ford found the back of the Marlies net just past the midpoint of the final frame. They would maintain the lead and picked up the victory which meant they swept the two-game set with Toronto. Manitoba heads out on the road today for four-games out west which begins with the defending Calder Cup champion Canucks in Abbotsford.

Note III: Over in the OHL, it was a hat trick of assists for Jets prospect Kieron Walton (2024 6th) who had two primary and one secondary in a loss for Peterborough. While Jacob Cloutier (2025 7th) with his 18th of the season which proved to be the game-winning goal for Saginaw as they completed an impressive comeback win over Erie. The broadcast also had a feature with former Spirit forward and current Jets winger Cole Perfetti.

Sabres website: An introduction to Logan Stanley, Buffalo’s imposing new defenseman. The folks in upstate New York had a chance to meet their new big man although not yet on the ice as he works through visa issues. 

The Athletic: 2026 NHL trade deadline report cards: Grading every team’s moves (or lack thereof). (Paywall). Murat handed the Jets an A for the work they did to shed themselves of UFAs and return a prospect plus some draft capital.
