Ahead of the the Jets and Lightning game this evening in Winnipeg on the eve of the NHL Trade Deadline there was speculation as to whether the home team would sit any of the players who are reportedly under consideration for being dealt by tomorrow.
Head coach Scott Arniel was asked about it this earlier today and said this:
“We have too many on the IR do be able to do that… As of this morning, this morning skate, no. What you’re seeing is what you’re getting tonight. And that could change I suppose.”
As you’ll note he left himself some wiggle room with that comment.
As I walked into the arena I checked the NHL media site and the Jets had Isaak Phillips on the roster so then it became a question as to whether or not they’d sit one or two players. Turned out to be two as both Isaak Phillips and Ville Heinola took to the ice in warm-up while both Logan Stanley and Luke Schenn were not skating.
