The Jets lineup appeared to be in flux this morning as they announced they had recalled defenceman Kale Clague up from the Moose. When Neal Pionk didn’t skate with his teammates today at practice ahead of the three-game road trip it appeared that he might be not as ready to play as previously believed.
Following skate head coach Scott Arniel provided an update on the Minnesotan:
“Neal’s injury isn’t from his other one. He actually got re-hurt again here this past week. So he’s now week-to-week.”
But it didn’t end there. He also had an unexpected update on Swiss Olympian Nino Niederreiter.
“Nino now is going week-to-week. He came out to see if it was, he had an injury prior to the Olympics that’s kinda been bothering him, so he’s going week-to-week.”
It’s interesting as the he took part in practice but clearly that was just to see if whatever was nagging him was still there. Curious decision given this result that he played in the Olympics.

The only “good news” is regarding Josh Morrissey, who will miss the three-game road trip, but they are hopeful for him to be available next week. This isn’t a surprise given what we heard from TSN’s insider Darren Dreger yesterday who indicated Morrissey would miss a “good chunk of time”.
