Manitoba Moose start strong, but cellar-dwelling Iowa Wild sweep weekend set

Recap of the game.

The Moose had to be disappointed after they allowed a comeback OT win on Saturday against a Wild team sitting dead last in the AHL Central Division. They were looking to avoid being swept in today’s re-match against Iowa.

Lineup news:

While most of the hockey world were watching what was happening in Milan, the Jets announced they had loaned back goalie Domenic DiVincentiis to their AHL affiliate.  We also learned that fellow Jets prospect Colby Barlow would be a scratch with an injury labelled day-t0-day but which precluded him from this game.

Moose lineup:

Shaw – Gustafsson- Di Giuseppe
JAD – Zhilkin – Fagemo
Wagner – Ford – Chibrikov
Julien– Yager – Lambert

Sautner – Bauer
Phillips – Barteaux
Anhorn – Clague

DiVincentiis

Notable:

200 games in the AHL for Jets draft pick Tyrel Bauer. The Cochrane, Alberta product is the heart and soul of this Moose team and has embraced being a Manitoban since he turned pro. Suspect he gets his first NHL game this season with Winnipeg and it would be well deserved.

The Moose opened the scoring just 1:32 into the opening frame as Kale Clague got his 8th of the campaign but that’s pretty much where the good times concluded for the home team.

They would give up five straight goals and lose 5-1 to a Wild team that hasn’t done a lot of winning this season. They sit dead last in the Central and will most likely not be a playoff team this season.

With the loss the Moose failed to gain ground on the Stars who they sit one point back of for 3rd in the Central but have four games in hand.

Multi-point game:

None.
