The Olympics are in full swing and for Men’s Hockey today the qualifiers will be played which included Nino Niederreiter and his Swiss team taking on the host Italians for a chance to advance to the quarterfinals. The only other Jets involved are Josh Morrissey (Canada) as well as Kyle Connor/Connor Hellebuyck (USA) who will play tomorrow for a chance to get to the semi finals.
Back in Winnipeg the rest of their teammates are hitting the ice as practice resumes ahead of their first game for the final stretch run of the season which will see them play 26 games in 51 days. The biggest questions marks coming into today is the health of Neal Pionk, Colin Miller and Haydn Fleury who were all out week-to-week ahead of the Olympic break.
Recall news:
This morning the Jets announced they had recalled four players up from the Moose including goalie Domenic DiVincentiis, defencemen Elias Salomonsson & Ville Heinola as well as forward Walker Duehr.
Skate news:
Both Neal Pionk and Haydn Fleury skating in yellow, non-contact jerseys. I don’t see Colin Miller. All four recalled guys are skating.
