Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | Feb 14, 2026

A daily roundup of Winnipeg Jets, Manitoba Moose coverage — all the pro hockey news that matters in Manitoba and beyond.

Note: A pair of Jets were supposed to be in action on Friday as Canada took on Switzerland over at the Olympics in Italy. When the lineups were announced however no Josh Morrissey for the Canadians while Nino Niederreiter did play for the Swiss. After Canada’s 5-1 win head coach Jon Cooper was asked for an update on 44. He ruled him out for their game on Sunday against France but did not rule him out for the rest of the Olympics which is good news. Today, the Americans are set to take on Denmark although it seems like that just Kyle Connor plays while Connor Hellebuyck could get the game off. Puck drop is at 2:10 PM CST.

Note II: The Moose skated for their first formal practice following the AHL All-Star break earlier in the week. The good news was Walker Duehr, who has missed the last five games, was back skating on his regular line. Lots of focus for Manitoba as they get ready for the stretch drive which begins with a game against the Wranglers this afternoon. Puck drop is at 2 PM CST.

Note III: Last night in the OHL, Jets prospect Kevin He (2024 4th) continued his torrid pace scoring two more goals for Flint which gives him a seven-game goal streak (11 goals in the streak) as he got to the 30 goal mark for the third straight season. While checking to see how Jets prospect Jacob Cloutier (2025 7th) did last night for Sagniaw, I saw Dimian Zhilkin, who is younger brother of Winnipeg prospect Danny (2022 3rd), had himself a night finishing with 3G 1A.

Note IV: Reminder that we are taking today’s show off so no Illegal Curve Hockey Show this morning but we will be back in action next Saturday at 9 AM CST for two hours of Jets talk.

Jets/Olympics news:

Winnipeg Free Press: Canada off to hot start in round-robin play. (Paywall). Mike has one of the best seat’s in the house to report on the games which he does in this game recap.

Winnipeg Free Press: One-that-got-away potential Jets forward has storybook Olympic start. (Paywall). He had a rather pedestrian start to the season. So much so that it looked like Winnipeg had dodged a bullet by not winning the sweepstakes at trade deadline as he had scored just three goals along with three assists in his first 17 games of the season. However, he has really been good since that slow start for the red-hot Avs. He also had an excellent start to his Olympics with the Americans on Thursday.

Global News: Near perfect start for Team Canada, not so much for Josh Morrissey. It’s unfortunate but it’s the reality of playing hockey at the highest level.
