Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers: Today’s Hockey Headlines | Jan 18, 2026

A daily roundup of Winnipeg Jets, Manitoba Moose coverage — all the pro hockey news that matters in Manitoba and beyond.

Note: If the Jets hadn’t played safe in the 3rd we are probably discussing their fifth straight win but they did and as a result the Leafs came back to defeat them in OT turning a winning streak into a points streak. While securing any points is critical that was most definitely an instance of losing one. They are scheduled to hold an optional practice before they head to Chicago for a game against the Hawks. Check back for the Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose played an excellent 40 minutes in Laval last night to wrap up six games on the road and unlike their parent club they got things rolling in the 3rd en route to a 3-0 defeat of the first place team in the North Division with the prospects having plenty of impact in the game.

Note III: Over in the OHL, Jets prospect Kieron Walton (2024 6th) scored the only goal in the game (aka GWG) for Peterborough. It was his 27th goal of the season. He sits tied for 2nd overall in the league for points with 57. Prospect Jacob Cloutier (2025 7th) scored his third goal in the last four games as he helped Saginaw pick up a win. He’s got points in six straight games.
