With an impressive shootout win last night over the Rocket the Moose were looking to close out the road trip with another win against Laval, who are sitting at the top of the North Division. Wasn’t going to be an easy task to sweep them at home in a two-game set.
Lineup news:
Pair of Jets prospects swap for the game with Jacob Julien coming out and Fabian Wagner going on. In net Domenic DiVincentiis got the net.
Moose lineup:
Lambert – Ford – Di Giuseppe
Shaw – Gustafsson- Duehr
Wagner– Yager – Fagemo
Barlow-JAD-Chibrikov
Heinola – Barteaux
Anhorn– Clague
Sautner – Bauer
DiVincentiis
Notable:
No scoring through 40 minutes and the Moose penalty kill came through killing all four opportunities for the Rocket in the 1st and 2nd periods. Laval has the 10th overall power play in the AHL but Manitoba’s penalty kill ranks 9th overall so it was a good test.
Jets prospect Brad Lambert broke open the 0-0 game with 8:34 remaining in the 3rd period for the Moose courtesy of his fourth goal of the season.
Moose scored a power play goal (not something I’ve written about very often) and it was Jets prospect Nikita Chibrikov who made it a 2-0 game for the Moose. It was his first goal in 14 games.
Manitoba captain Mason Shaw sealed the deal courtesy of the empty net 3 on 1 tally to make it a 3-0 game. That was his 10th goal of the season.
Just one of 28 saves that Jets goalie prospect Domenic DiVincentiis made in the game. It was his second shutout of the season.
Moose sweep the 1st place (in the North) Rocket in Laval to end the six-game road trip with a 3-2-1-0 record. They improve to 19-14-3-0 on the season which puts them in 3rd in the Central and one point back of 2nd.
The game actually ended with 1:13 left in the 3rd period due to a fan medical emergency according to the Rocket. “A decision to stop the game was made due to a fan having a medical emergency in the stands.” Hope they are ok.
Multi-point game:
