Recap of the game.

The Jets are going streaking as they win their third straight defeating the Islanders in a wild hockey game by a final score of 5-4.

Notable:

Pride of Grandview, Manitoba, Ryan Pulock handing out warm-up pucks to Islanders fans ahead of the game against the Jets.

The Jets were honouring the Canadian Armed Forces at the game against the Islanders. I can tell you there is no chance I’d even been on the rafters let alone descending from them.

Kyle Connor gave the Jets an early 1-0 lead over the Islanders. That was his 22nd goal of the season.

Don’t see that very often. As soon as 81 scored, the other Connor as in Hellebuyck jetted over to the bench to get his skate or pad worked on.

It was one of the wildest middle frame that I can recall. Things got started with Josh Morrissey giving the Jets a 2-0 lead after the second line (with Adam Lowry) doing some good work down low. Cole Perfetti and Adam Lowry got the assists.

Captain Serious is heating up. Three straight games for Jonathan Toews with a goal to make it a 3-0 game for the Jets. He’s got 6 on the season now.

In one of the funniest moments of the game (and possibly the season), Mark Scheifele was announced as having picked up his 500th assist on the last Jets goal. Only problem: he didn’t touch the puck. It was Vilardi who shot it. 55 knew he didn’t so he remains at 499.

What was once a 3-0 lead was 3-2 as the Islanders score on the penalty shot.

Dear Mama. What was a 3-0 Jets lead is now 3-3 as the Islanders storm back to tie it in two minutes and 41 seconds.

But just like that Dylan DeMelo gave the Jets the lead back as he puts this one home. And now Mark Scheifele gets his 500th assist although the Islanders challenged (for some inexplicable reason). 55 was recognized and appreciated the applause.

The seventh and final goal of the 2nd period saw the captain Adam Lowry, who was really hot a few minutes early after an injury whistle that went in the Islanders favour, redirected a Pionk point shot to give the home team a two goal lead.

But rookie phenom Matthew Schaefer scored with 45 seconds left to make it a one goal game.

With the win the Jets improve to 18-22-5 on the season.

Multi Point Game:

Adam Lowry 1G 1A
Kyle Connor 1G 1A
Mark Scheifele 2A
