Note: The Jets held a highly optional on Saturday although we learned that Morgan Barron was wearing a yellow, non-contact uniform. With it being an early afternoon game we won’t know if there will be a return of Barron or Neal Pionk so stay tuned for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 1 PM CST.
Note II: This afternoon, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and New Jersey, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 3 PM CST.
Note III: The Moose dominated when it came to shots in last night’s game in Rockford against the IceHogs but they needed a late Walker Duehr goal to tie it and then Ville Heinola won it in the shootout. Thomas Milic made all four stops to seal the deal for Manitoba with a 3-2 shootout win. The Moose will make the short trip to Chicago where they will take on the Wolves this afternoon. Puck drop is at 3 PM CST.
Note IV: Over in the OHL a pair of Jets prospects and best friends were both named 1st Stars of the game for their respective clubs. Kevin He (2024 4th) had a shorthanded goal for Flint while Kieron Walton (2024 6th) had a power play goal and the shootout game-winner for Peterborough (in his first game for his new team).
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Jets fans ‘want to see us have success,’ says Scott Arniel. No doubt the atmosphere on Friday was festive and fun after such a long spell of doom and gloom. Arniel had said prior the fans could be a boon and they sure seemed to bring the energy. Although there is also a segment of the fan base who wouldn’t be upset (at this point) for this team to get a top 3 pick.

Winnipeg Free Press: That’s one, now keep it rolling. (Paywall). It’s all about consistency right now.

Illegal Curve Hockey Show: Saturday Podcast. We had two hours of Jets talk coming your way as we discussed the state of the NHL club of Winnipeg. And we did not have to discuss another loss by the home team after they ended their 11-game winless streak with a big 5-1 win over the Kings. We reflected on this, looked ahead to the game against the Devils and more. We were joined by Jesse Pollock of BarDown and Craig Button of TSN.
