Moose dominate play, outshoot IceHogs 34–14 but need shootout for 3–2 win

Recap of the game.

The Moose were looking to get back on track after they stumbled to start this road trip when they took on another division rival this evening in Rockford.

Lineup news:

Jets prospect Fabian Wagner playing his first game in almost two months. The forward lines were jumbled a bit, the D remained the same as last game while Thomas Milic got the net.

Moose lineup:

Barlow – Lambert – Chibrikov
Shaw – Gustafsson- Duehr
JAD– Ford – Di Giuseppe
Wagner – Yager – Fagemo

Phillips – Salomonsson
Heinola – Clague
Sautner – Bauer

Milic

Notable:

As per the Moose it was the 300th AHL game for captain Mason Shaw and Samuel Fagemo.

Didn’t take long for the Moose to open the scoring as Parker Ford ripped home this shot after making the play along the wall to set up a 2 on 1. That’s his third goal of the season.

Good vision as a pair of first rounders try to connect on the Moose power play with Brayden Yager finding Colby Barlow for a chance.

A turnover by Jets prospect Nikita Chibrikov gave former Moose captain Dominic Toninato a chance to go on the attack shorthanded. The goal initially went to Jamie Engelbert but Toninato was eventually given credit as he put the puck in the net.

Pretty even big boy tilt as Tyrel Bauer and Dillon Boucher chuck knuckles with abandon. These two had a battle last month.

Parker Ford thought he had another goal in this game to tie it up but it didn’t end up counting.

After the no-goal call, the Moose tied the game when Walker Duehr blasted home his 10th goal of the season late in the final frame.

During regulation and OT the Moose outshot the IceHogs 34-14.

A trio of Jets prospects (Chibrikov, Yager & Lambert) weren’t able to find the back of the net during the four round shootout for the Moose. Ville “dangles” Heinola the only player to score which gave the Moose a 3-2 lead.

With Jets goalie prospect Thomas Milic shutting the door four times in the shootout it meant the Moose had completed the comeback and picked up a 3-2 victory on the road.

Multi-point game:
