Game 43: Winnipeg Jets vs Los Angeles Kings pre-game report

A look at the projected lineups and pre-game interviews.

The Jets have now lost 11 straight games (0-7-4) after dropping a 4-3 decision to the Oilers last night which included them blowing a 3-1 lead. That’s 16 losses by one goal (0-11-5) already this season. That means they remain mired in the basement of the NHL. And to add insult to injury they now have 22 regulation losses (in 42 games) which is the same number they had in all 82 games last season.

Their opponent comes into tonight’s game on a bit of a slide having gone 4-5-1 in their last ten which means the Kings are currently sitting as the second wild card in the West. They do come in as a very good road team sitting with an 11-5-5 record away from California.

Both clubs have subpar special teams. The visitors have the 25th overall power play and the 22nd ranked penalty kill while the home team ranks 19th and 25th respectively.

Lineup news:

We do know based on what Scott Arniel said in his post-game media availability that Danny Zhilkin will get a second straight NHL game after making his debut last night. Seems likely that Vlad Namestnikov would draw back in although uncertain as to who he would be replacing.

Skate news:

No morning skate.

Warm-up news:

Both Vlad Namestnikov and Colin Miller are in as no Morgan Barron or Neal Pionk (both health related).

Odds:

This matchup carries a misleading sense of parity. Los Angeles enters in the stronger situational spot, with its road success helping offset a middling recent stretch, while Winnipeg continues to search for traction amid an extended winless run. The Jets’ back-to-back adds another layer of difficulty, though home ice and urgency prevent a clear separation. With both sides showing vulnerabilities, the game shapes up as a tighter contest than it might initially appear. For the latest Winnipeg Jets hockey odds, visit NHL betting site Betway.
