The Jets are in one right now as they have lost three straight games and are 2-7-1 in their last ten games. They’ve only picked up five wins in their last 18 games as they continue to drop in the standings. The penalty kill has fallen from top 5 to bottom 10 and now the power play has gone from 6th overall to 13th.
Conversely they face a Capitals team this evening that are 7-1-2 in their last ten and tied for top spot Metro with the Hurricanes (which also means they are tied for top spot in the East). They’ve been very good away from home going 8-4-2 on the road.
The biggest question mark right now is the status of Connor Hellebuyck who practiced for a third straight game. Head coach Scott Arniel wasn’t giving us much other than “he’s closer” so we’ll have to wait and see what today brings. But that would be a big help for a Jets team that is listless right now.

Odds:
Oddsmakers may tilt this one toward Washington, but the Capitals will still need to navigate a focused, desperate Winnipeg group looking to reset on home ice. If the Jets can settle in quickly and dictate some of the early tempo, they could pull the contest into a more balanced grind — yet Washington’s recent surge and confident road form give them the kind of upward push that can reshape a game’s flow in an instant.
