Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets played a much better game last night but the time for moral victories has long since passed. The bottom line was they lost the game 4-3 to a Stars team that, even when they aren’t at their best, can still do enough to secure two points. Winnipeg will practice today at 12 noon as they get set to welcome the Bruins to town on Thursday. Stay tuned for the Jets Practice Report.

Note II: Before practice gets underway NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly are in town for their annual visit. There will be a chat this morning at 11 AM CST which we will post on here and on our YouTube channel.

Note III: The Moose hit the ice on Tuesday for a practice as they continue to get themselves ready for six straight at home. They received a boost following practice as they got back top D prospect Elias Salomonsson from the big club. They have another practice scheduled for today at 10:30 AM CST so stay tuned for the Moose Practice Report.

Note IV: Darren Dreger with a big update via Insider Trading yesterday regarding Winnipeg Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck who he indicated “I’d look to have him back in the net starting for the Jets potentially next week”. That would be quite the reduction in time missed from the initial assessment. Will have to see if today brings any further insight.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets’ 4-3 loss to Stars follows familiar script. (Paywall). This team appears to be always chasing the game rather than setting the pace. Wieber gives you his insight into the game.

Winnipeg Free Press: Toews moves from second centre to fourth-line winger. While 19 isn’t doing enough right now there are a handful of players who are just as guilty of a lack of production.

Global News: Jets can’t overcome three-goal deficit in 4-3 loss to Stars. They dug themselves too big a hole last night although they do deserve credit for competing against one of the best teams in the NHL and getting close to extra time.

Jets video:

TSN: What’s the main issue plaguing the Jets right now? The Jets have just five wins in their last 17 games, Scott Arniel even switched up the lines but that still resulted in another loss. What’s plaguing Winnipeg right now? Craig Button joined SportsCentre to discuss.

TSN: Do the Winnipeg Jets have bigger concerns than the health of Connor HellebuyckEntering play on Tuesday, the Jets sit 16 points behind Dallas and are on the outside of the playoff picture looking in. How much of this is Winnipeg missing their MVP goalie Connor Hellebuyck, and how much is it a drop off in the team overall? TSN Hockey analyst Frankie Corrado shares his thoughts on this and more.
