Modest Moose win streak now a points streak as Stars win first of year defeating Manitoba 2-1 in OT

Recap of the game.

The Moose are looking to build on their modest two-game win streak after they concluded their road trip in Tucson by sweeping the Roadrunners. They take on a Stars team that have fallen off the map to start the season as they remain without a win and sit last in the Central.

Lineup news:

Fairly minimal changes to the lineup with Tyson Empey out and prospect Fabian Wagner in and in net Thomas Milic gets his third start in the last four games.

Moose lineup:

Fagemo – Zhilkin – Di Giuseppe
Shaw – Gustafsson – Duehr
JAD – Yager – Vitelli
Barlow – Yoder –Wagner

Heinola – Clague
Phillips – Salomonsson
Sautner – Bauer

Notable:

The Moose had a very good opening period where they outshot the Stars 11-6 but couldn’t solve goalie Artem Shlaine.

That would prove costly as less than five minutes into the middle frame, with the Moose having puck possession but good pressure by the Stars forces a turnover and then they bank a puck in to open the scoring.

The home team came close to tying the game late but Walker Duehr just couldn’t get a David Gustafsson slap pass to go.

It’s hammer time says MC Kale Clague as he tied the game with this bomb.

Late in the game the Moose had a double minor to try to take the lead but they were unable to get it done and the game went to extra time.

Manitoba never had possession in the extra frame and Texas made them pay just 30 seconds into it.

As a result the modest win streak became a points streak as the Moose lose in OT to the Stars who get their first win of the season.
