Moose win back-to-back games for first time this season as they sweep Roadrunners with 4-3 win

Recap of the game.

After picking up a 2-0 win over the Roadrunners on Tuesday night which saw the Moose fire 51 shots on net, they were looking to leave Tucson with a series sweep for the first time this season.

Lineup news:

Vitelli came in for Wagner. Third pair swapped with Anhorn and Frisch out and Sautner and Bauer in.

Moose lineup:

Fagemo – Zhilkin – Di Giuseppe
Shaw – Gustafsson – Duehr
JAD – Yager – Vitelli
Barlow – Yoder –Empey

Heinola – Salomonsson
Phillips – Clague
Sautner – Bauer

DiVincentiis

Notable:

Former Jets/Moose forward Austin Poganski had scored earlier and had a good chance to add another but ends up bowling into Jets goalie prospect Domenic DiVincentiis. He was fine and would stay in the game.

Jets prospect Brayden Yager rips this shot on net and it falls perfectly in place for Jaret Anderson-Dolan who gets his second in as many games to tie things up in Tucson.

With the visitors down by a goal, Phil Di Giuseppe got his third goal of the season and second shorthanded marker which tied the game 2-2.

The Moose took their first lead of the game early in the 3rd on the power play as Kale Clague put everything he’s got into this rocket from the point to make it a 3-2 game.

The Moose got some insurance (at the time) from the captain as Mason Shaw got his first in antlers to make it 4-2. Nice inadvertent assist from David Gustafsson at the Roadrunners blueline. This would end up as the game-winning goal after Tucson got a power play goal late in the 3rd.

Walker Duehr was giving Patrik Stefan vibes. I’m not sure I can ever recall this happening to a Moose player in all the years I’ve covered the team as he shoots the puck high above the empty net from five feet away. Luckily for him and the team Manitoba held on for the win.

Multi-point game:

Mason Shaw 1G 1A
Jaret Anderson-Dolan 1G 1A
Kale Clague 1G 1A

The Moose return to Winnipeg on Thursday and are off on Friday. Might they have captain Adam Lowry joining them in antlers for the first time in a decade on Saturday for practice if the Jets decide to send him down on a conditioning assignment? Stay tuned.
