Notable:
Jets were a bit sloppy to start this game taking two penalties early and it resulted in a goal by Nazem Kadri on the power play to open the scoring for the visitors.
And then this happened. All aboard the Logan Stanley train.
While the home team was down 1-0 after 20 minutes they scored four goals in the middle frame (while only giving up one) to take a commanding 4-2 lead after 40 minutes.
It began on a 4 on 4 when Josh Morrissey made an incredible pass when he didn’t even look at Kyle Connor before feeding him a perfect pass which 81 buried to tie the game. And it was a milestone assist for 44 as he moves into sole possession of 4th on the all-time Jets 2.0 assist list (one ahead of Nikolaj Ehlers).
The Winnipeg kid gets his first goal in his hometown to give the Jets a 2-1 lead. Jonathan Toews up to two goals on the season. His second against the Flames. The visitors would challenge but it was ruled a good goal.
And just like that it was 3-1 with Gabriel Vilardi getting his first of the season. Kinda funny he scores after his chat with us this morning. He may wanna do media every game day at this rate.
Looks like the power play is working as Alex Iafallo made it a 4-2 game late in the 2nd. Great pass by Gabriel Vilardi. Btw Iafallo also did media today. Just saying….
And then we saw a Grand Salami as we took a break to watch the Jays/Dodgers game 1.
With the seconds winding down Vlad Namestnikov iced it with an empty netter.
Eric Comrie made 30 of 33 saves to improve to 2-0-0 on the season.
