Note: While we didn’t anticipate that Tuesday would be as busy as Monday in Jetsland it was still a pretty, pretty, pretty busy day. The good news for Winnipeg was that Hart/Vezina winner Connor Hellebuyck was on the ice for morning skate and was confirmed to be starting in the game last night. We learned via Puck Pedia that both Mason Shaw and Phil Di Giuseppe had cleared waivers and could be assigned to the Moose. There was some thought that the Jets might wait until today to make any additional moves but they ended up making an additional five moves when they placed Tyrel Bauer and Isaak Phillips on waivers, released Ashton Sautner and Dawson Barteaux from their PTOs (they head direct to the Moose) and returned prospect Kieron Walton to junior. Ensure you’re fully up-to-date from day 13 with all that was happening in Jetsland here.
Note II: The Jets also played last night taking on the Wild in St. Paul in their fifth preseason game. It began well with Cole Koepke scoring his first in a Winnipeg uniform off a nice forecheck by him and a sealing of the wall by Haydn Fleury. With the score knotted at one the visitors got the lead courtesy of Vlad Namestnikov putting home the hard work of Alex Iafallo. An ill-advised pass led to the game-winning goal for the home team in the middle frame. About five minutes before the GWG took place it was the last shift for Jonathan Toews although replaying the shift you’d be hard pressed to see that anything is amiss. We would find out after the game from head coach Scott Arniel that he had tweaked something. We also learned that Vlad Namestnikov had been pulled from the game by a concussion spotter after he took this hit. They are off today.
Note III: The Jets are off today so the expectation is the earliest we get an update on Toews will likely be Thursday. We will learn if Bauer/Phillips pass through waivers and also if the Jets put anyone else on it so stay tuned for that news.
Note IV: The Moose training camp is underway and they’ll play an exhibition game against the University of Manitoba Bisons (ironically a bunch of players for UofM have spent the last few days as part of Manitoba camp).

Winnipeg Sun: Jonathan Toews, the Winnipeg Jets and the task that lies ahead. Worth noting that Gordon wrote this piece before the Toews injury last night.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets depth will get an early test with Adam Lowry and Dylan Samberg missing. Especially when it comes to the penalty kill where both players play such big roles.

The Athletic Winnipeg: Jets 2025-26 season preview: Playoff chances, projected points, roster rankings. (Paywall). Not sure I can keep reading an article that says “Connor isn’t a true No. 1 forward on a contender”. But if you’re so inclined check out this season preview.
