Note: The Jets took Tuesday off after picking up an impressive 3-1 win over the Blues on Monday night. Of course just because they weren’t in action on Tuesday didn’t mean the out-of-town scoreboard wasn’t worth checking. The Stars had a three goal lead on the Canucks with one minute left in the 3rd period and they lost the game in OT. Just wild. As a result the Stars deficit is four points with both the Jets and Stars having four games remaining. Today they are back on the ice as they prepare for a huge game in Dallas tomorrow night. Check back for the Practice Report.
Note II: The Moose hit the ice for practice on Tuesday as they got prepare to close out the home portion of the regular season this weekend in Winnipeg. We did hear from Jets prospect Kieron Walton (2024 6th) who is fresh off signing his first NHL contract and then took part in his first AHL practice. They aren’t skating today as they focus on off ice workouts. They’ll be back on the ice tomorrow. Btw if you’d like to go to one of the final home games of the season this weekend then send me a message on social media or an email (dave @ illegalcurve .com).
Note III: Some sad news from yesterday as Jets prospect Chaz Lucius announced via his agent that he was retiring from pro hockey as he deals with the effects of Ehlers–Danlos syndrome.
Note IV: Just four Winnipeg prospects remain in the second round of the CHL playoffs. In the WHL you’ve got Brayden Yager (2023 1st) with Lethbridge taking on Calgary starting on Thursday while Markus Loponen (2024 5th) with Victoria taking on Spokane starting on Sunday. Over in the OHL it’s Colby Barlow (2023 1st) with Oshawa taking on Brantford starting on Thursday while Jacob Julien (2023 5th) with London taking on Erie also on Thursday.
