Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets used Wednesday as a travel day following a disappointing loss to the Canucks on Tuesday. Today they will face a much stiffer test when they go up against the Oilers in Edmonton to conclude the three-game road trip. “”Morning skate” for Winnipeg gets underway at 12:30 PM CDT so stay tuned for the pre-game report to ensure you’re up-to-date on the latest. Puck drop is at 8 PM CDT.

Note II: This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Edmonton, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 10:40 PM CDT.

Note III: The Moose concluded their four-game road trip in Rockford last night which saw them pick up two points which was good but it came in OT against the team they are chasing for the fifth and final playoff spot in the Central. One positive is prospect Fabian Wagner (2022 6th) remained red-hot scoring his seventh goal in the last seven games. The team are off today and will hit the ice for a practice on Friday as they prepare for a game against the Canucks in Winnipeg.

Note IV: In the OHL last night just one prospect was in action as Kieron Walton (2024 6th) picked up his 92nd point (in 64 games) contributing an assist for Sudbury. I missed this on Sunday as Jets prospect Garrett Brown (2022 4th) had an offensive explosion (for him) finishing with 1G 1A for Denver.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: They know what we did’: Jets go from desperate team to vengeful one. Hard to believe the Oilers are really gonna dig into their memory banks to recall something that happened over five months ago.

Winnipeg Free Press: Time for Jets to turn back up the heat. (Paywall). It’s funny how whenever folks start to talk positively about the Jets the team takes a step backwards. Not that I believe one impacts the other I just find it to be an interesting coincidence.

Illegal Curve Hockey: The Jets have found their next elite defenceman in Dylan Samberg. A really good read from Connor on the 2017 2nd rounder.

The Athletic Winnipeg: The up-and-down PK, Perfetti’s step forward, Arniel for Jack Adams? (Paywall). Observations from Murat.

Sportsnet: New third line lone bright spot in Jets loss. It was time for a change as 22 and 62 just don’t have it going on right now.

Global News: Jets-Canucks a glimpse into potential 1st-round matchupPaul contemplates a first round series between Winnipeg and Vancouver.
