Manitoba Moose Practice Report

The Moose prepare this week for an upcoming set with the Marlies.

The Moose are back in Manitoba after a very successful road trip which saw them go 4-0-1 against the best team in the Pacific (Calgary), third best club in the Central (Milwaukee) and then the top team in the Central (Grand Rapids). Now they prepare for four games at home which begin this weekend against the Marlies.

The biggest question mark is the health of Jets prospect Elias Salomonsson (2022 2nd) who has been out since early December with an upper-body injury after taking a heavy hit into the boards. The original hope was it would cost him a few weeks but it’s been 5.5 weeks.

Skate news:

It’s a heavily optional skate today as the Moose have three straight days of practice between games. There were nine skaters (Lambert, Chibrikov, Zhilkin, Ford, King, Empey, Liwiski, Kuzmin, Sward as well as goalie Thomas Milic.

Good news for the team that prospect Brad Lambert is back after missing last three games due to illness.

I was told that Elias Salomonsson continues to IR skate on his own.

Health news:

“He’s not quite 100% but he’s close.”

Manitoba coach Mark Morrison to me on Jets prospect Elias Salomonsson. Don’t expect him this weekend.

Up next:

The team will have one final day of practice tomorrow before they take on the Marlies.
