Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: Winnipeg picked up an impressive 3-0 win over division rival Colorado last night which was the second game of a back-to-back for the home team and against a team that was 8-1-1 in their last 10. But the Jets played a consistent game for 60 minutes, the PK went 2/2 and Connor Hellebuyck was his usual self all of which contributed to the victory as they became the first NHL team to get to the 60 point mark. They are off today.

Note II:  The AHL club of Manitoba was also doing impressive things on Saturday night as they went back-to-back against division leading Grand Rapids and pulled off a victory with 35 seconds left in the game when Jets prospect Nikita Chibrikov fired home a PP goal which would be the game-winning goal. The 1-0 win was their fourth straight victory and gave them points in all five games they played on this road trip. They will return to Manitoba today and practice in Winnipeg this week as they prepare for the Marlies next weekend.

Note III: Near as I can tell it was the first time in the history of the Jets and Moose/IceCaps franchises that both the NHL and AHL teams had a shutout on the same night.
