Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets and Kings played some low event hockey for most of the first 40 minutes of last night’s game before they both started taking penalties and special teams begun to become a factor. While the red-hot power play struck again with a wizard like goal to tie the game the more notable factoid is the penalty kill has gone 10 of the last 11 odd man opportunities including another three last night. Ultimately they fell 2-1 in OT but will look forward to the next game which is this evening against an Avalanche team that was in Winnipeg waiting on Friday. No morning skate for the Jets but we might hear some news so be sure to check out the pre-game report. Puck drop is at 6 PM CST.

Note II:  This evening, after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Colorado, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 8:40 PM CST.

Note III: The Moose looked to keep the good times rolling as since the clock stuck 2025 it’s like they are a whole new team. Top Jets prospect Brad Lambert was ruled out of the game missing his second straight due to illness. Sans him the Jets prospect line of Chaz Lucius and Nikita Chribrikov opened the scoring in Grand Rapids courtesy of the 2021 2nd rounder’s seventh goal of the season. They struck next on the power play as C.J. Suess tipped home Dylan Anhorn‘s shot from the point to make it a 2-1 game as the college signee hit double digits in points for first time. They took the lead for good around the midpoint of the final frame as a Ben King shot put them ahead 3-2. That’s how it would end as Manitoba is now 3-0-1 to begin the calendar year. They will practice today as they wrap up the road trip tomorrow in Michigan.

Note IV: There were lots of prospects in action so we’ll limit this to two. 2024 6th rounder Kieron Walton and his Wolves were going up against b/f and 2024 4th rounder Kevin He and his IceDogs last night. The 19-game points streak for Walton came to an end (he remains 3rd overall in OHL points race) while He put up three primary assists.

Note V: We’ve got two hours of Jets talk coming your way on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show starting at 9 AM CST as we look back at the week that was in Jetsland as we recap the Jets/Kings game from Friday night while also getting you set up ahead of tonight’s game between Winnipeg and Colorado. We will be joined by Sara Orlesky of the Jets and Jeff Marek of The Sheet
