Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets looked like a team that had been off for a few days to start last night’s hockey game against the Preds but their goalie kept them in the game (a theme) and they woke up to the tune of three 1st period goals which powered them to victory. Of course the penalty kill which again saw 37 stand take especially during a late 5 on3 when he made five stops saw Winnipeg defeat Nashville by a final score of 5-2 and Connor Hellebuyck pick up his 300th victory. Pretty crazy when you consider the nine other goalies who have worn a Jets 2.0 jersey have combined for 247 wins. Of course it wasn’t without a cost as the team lost Josh Morrissey who left the game, came back and then left again. He was hurt when he collided with Mark Scheifele and then smoked the Jets post. No real update following the game. The team is holding an optional skate at 12 noon so stay tuned for the Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose were off on Monday and today they’ll hit the ice in Milwaukee for a practice as they look to build on their successful start to the road trip which saw them take three of four points against the top team in the league in the Wranglers. They’ll face off against the Admirals tomorrow night.

Note III: We learned on Tuesday that Colin Miller will be out a while after suffering a fractured larynx in the game against the Wings. He is expected to miss at least two weeks.

Note IV: Jets prospect Brayden Yager (2023 1st) with the secondary assist on the power play which turned out to be the GWG for his new team against his former team.
