The Moose got a boost after losing Jets prospect Brad Lambert earlier in the week to recall when they got fellow prospects Chaz Lucius and Simon Lundmark back off IR. Especially good news for the team that Lucius, who had missed the last month, could potentially fill the offensive void left behind by his fellow first round prospect.
Lineup news:
No real surprises with the lineup as they remained the same as we saw in practice on Thursday. Kappo Kahkonen got the net back from Thomas Milic who played in the last game for Manitoba last week.
Lines & D pairs:
Suess – Toninato – JAD
AJF -Lucius – Ford
Shaw – Conley – Chibrikov
Wagner -King – Torgersson
Sautner – Salomonsson
Anhorn – Barteaux
Lundmark – Bauer
Kahkonen
Notable:
It took the Moose a bit of time to get going as the Senators held a 3-0 shot edge five and a half minutes into the opening frame but that’s when Jets prospect Chaz Lucius scored his first goal of the season as he ripped this shot home. This week he spoke about how excited he is to feel good and just have fun on the ice. But as he showed on this rush he’s certainly got all the tools.
Seven minutes later on just their second shot of the period the Moose made it 2-0 courtesy of Parker Ford‘s third goal of the season as he tipped home the Elias Salomonsson shot. (As an aside the Jets D prospect is tied for team scoring lead).
Chaz Lucius playing in just his fourth game of the season also had an assist on the second goal to give him his first multi point game of the 2024-25 campaign.
It looked like it was all coming up Manitoba as the Moose would make it 3-0 on Jaret Anderson-Dolan‘s first as a member of the Moose early in the 2nd period as he fired this one home from long range. Good screen in front by C.J. Suess.
But a lapse in the middle frame saw Belleville erase their three goal deficit to tie the game 3-3 after 40 minutes of play. They fired a total of 17 shots on Kahkonen during the middle frame alone.
An unfortunate signals crossed situation by the Moose allowed the Senators to take a 4-3 lead in the 3rd which turned out to be the game-winning goal.
What’s worse for Manitoba was two minutes later Jets prospect Elias Salomonsson left down the tunnel after taking this big hit into the boards. Didn’t look good.
Moose captain Dominic Toninato came this close to tying the game late in the 3rd but he hits the post.
The Senators would seal the deal with two empty netters to make it a 6-3 game for the visitors.
With the loss the Moose slip to 6-12-0 on the season.
Multi-point game:
Chaz Lucius 1G 1A
Jaret Anderson-Dolan 1G 1A
Elias Salomonsson 2A
