Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: The Jets finally bid adieu to their four-game losing streak with a 3-2 OT win over the Sabres in western New York State. While it wasn’t the prettiest of victories it does get them back in the win column as they improved to 19-8-0 on the season. The Jets are scheduled to practice today in Chicago so check back for the Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose are in action this evening against the Senators as they kick off the final pair of games of this six-game homestand. While they did lose Brad Lambert to a recall earlier in the week the team got some good news on Thursday as they will have Jets prospects Chaz Lucius and Simon Lundmark back in the lineup. Puck drop is at 7 PM CST.

Note III: Normally I would have had this in the morning papers yesterday but I missed it as Jets 2023 1st rounder Colby Barlow had his best offensive output of the season with 2G 1A in Oshawa’s win. He had seven shots in the game and was named 1st Star. He’s up to 12G 7A for 19 points in 25 games. His pts/g creeping up, now 0.76.

Jets news:

Sportsnet: Lowry embodies everything Jets want to be in win over Sabres. The captain has been noticeable in the last few games trying to drag his team into the fight.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets end four-game skid, escape Buffalo with 3-2 overtime win. Paul gives you his thoughts on last night’s victory to end the slide.

Winnipeg Sun: Mark Scheifele still ‘on the bubble’ for Team Canada, says Jets coach. Probably good for the team that he is still being watched as 55 is likely to have a burr in his saddle after being passed over.

Winnipeg Sun: ‘Relish the opportunity’: Jets’ Kyle Connor to don the Stars and Stripes. Hard to believe this is the first best-on-best (technically) since 2016 which for Kyle Connor was his first year as a pro.

Winnipeg Free Press: Lowry the OT hero as Jets grind out win against Sabres to end losing skid at four. (Paywall) Wieber was front and centre inside Keybank Arena and provides you with his insight from the game.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets thrilled to represent their countries. (Paywall). Anytime you get a chance to wear your countries flag on your chest is an honour or in deference to the U.S. born players an honor.

Sportsnet: Adam Lowry scores in OT to lift Jets over Sabres and end four-game skid. It was a big time play by 2/3 of the Jets leadership group in overtime.

Sportsnet: Sabres baffled by goalie interference reviews in loss to Jets. I can understand him not liking the calls but in both instances it seemed like they got it right with video review.

Global News: Jets snap losing streak with OT win over Sabres. Check out another recap of the game.

TSN: ‘The top line was outstanding’: Sawyer praises Connor, Scheifele and Vilardi in Jets’ winTSN’s Kevin Sawyer joins Dan Robertson to discuss the Jets’ hard fought victory on the road against the Sabres, and praises the top line of Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele and Gabriel Vilardi in the win.
