Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: Today is Remembrance Day which is a day for all Canadians to remember the men and women who served and sacrificed for our country.

Note II: The Jets were off on Sunday after securing their 14th victory in game number 15 which if you somehow missed the news is a new NHL record. There was also plenty of buzz generated from fans chanting “U.S. backup” at Jake Oettinger. The coaching staff is keeping the team off the ice today to allow them to rest up for a grueling road trip which will see them play nine of the next ten contests away from Winnipeg. Today they will fly to New York as they kick things off with the Rangers tomorrow night.

Note III: The Moose had a much better effort on Sunday night in Texas as they got out to a 2-0 lead, dominated the middle frame but were unable to build on that lead which allowed the Stars to comeback with three goals including the game-winning goal with just 3:05 left in the 3rd. They’d add two more empty net goals which meant Manitoba lost for the second consecutive day by a score of 5-2. Today the team will travel to Milwaukee as they prepare for a game against the Admirals on Wednesday.

Note IV: There were a number of Jets prospects in action between the OHL and WHL last night but none had any points. However I can offer you something Jets adjacent, especially since he attended Development Camp this past summer, as ‘Mad Max’ Namestnikov (younger brother of Jets centre Vlad) had himself a solid night with four goals for Guelph.

Jets news:

The Athletic Winnipeg: The Jets made NHL history. How will they tackle the most difficult stretch of the season? (Paywall). How indeed Murat, how indeed! Hint: The answer is in his article but you gotta click it to find out.

New York Post: Rangers need show they belong in biggest test yet against NHL-best Jets. We’ve reached the point in the season that the Jets are being seen as a measuring stick team. The big dog that the little dogs are looking to take out. The Rangers sits 4th in the Metro where they are a solid 9-3-1 on the season and while they don’t score as often as the Jets they’ve been equally stingy in terms of goals allowed.
