Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: While some folks thought the Jets could get to 4-0 or even 5-0 to start the season I am not sure anyone thought they’d be at six straight wins but that’s just where they sit after defeating the Blues last night in St. Louis by a final score of 3-2 to kick off their three game road trip with another victory. It was an impressive game from Cole Perfetti who had three assists but also made some key defensive plays while Connor Hellebuyck stopped 27 of 29 to improve to 5-0-0 with a .948 save% and a 1.40 GAA. The team is off today as they head to the west coast where they will take on the Kraken tomorrow night in Seattle.

Note II: The Moose had another day of practice on Tuesday where we learned that Jets prospect Chaz Lucius is feeling good about where he’s at while Tyrel Bauer is dealing with a back issue that kept him out of practice yesterday and the two games this past weekend. Today they are off.

Note III: For the second time this month a Jets prospect has been named captain of his junior team as 2024 4th rounder Kevin He was named the 19th captain in the history of the Niagara IceDogs. He joins Brayden Yager (2023 1st) who was named 36th captain of the Moose Jaw Warriors in early October.

Note IV: Worth noting the NHL on Tuesday announced they had rescheduled the times of two Jets games.

Jets news:

Sportsnet: Perfetti proving his worth for NHL’s last unbeaten team. Lots of players will be in contract year’s this season and while Perfetti is not technically one of them his year will be scrutinized heavily as it will set the table for his long-term deal.

Winnipeg Sun: Connor’s fifth, Perfetti’s three assists help Jets remain perfect. The entire team, from top to bottom, continues to contribute to the wins we’ve seen from them this season.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets’ Arniel keeps focus one game at a time. No point spending too much time future-casting when you can keep your focus on the here and now.

Winnipeg Free Press: Perfetti makes sure Jets remain perfect with three assists. (Paywall). Kenny gives you his takeaways from his birds eye view inside Enterprise Center last night.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets defence a work in progress. (Paywall). Will be interesting to see how much runway they give Logan Stanley.
