Latest on Logan Stanley as he returns to Winnipeg Jets practice in yellow, non-contact

The big Dman is back on the ice with his teammates following knee surgery.

Back on September 26th we learned that Logan Stanley had tweaked something in his knee which we would learn the next day would be something that required surgery to deal with a meniscus issue, with the expectation he’d be out of the lineup for at least four weeks.

When the Jets submitted their opening night roster back on October 7th Stanley began it on IR. On that day head coach Scott Arniel indicated that Stanley was likely head of Heinola but that he didn’t think either would be playing too quickly “not by the end of the month expect anybody in”.

Fast forward eight days and there was Logan Stanley in a yellow, non-contact uniform out on the ice 25 minutes before practice began at hockey for all centre.

After practice concluded Jets head coach was asked for an update on the big man and had this to say:

“This will be more about conditioning and feel. He kinda snuck into a couple of 5 on 5 drills that he wasn’t supposed to today but he’s too big of a target that I think everybody knew where he was all the time. That’s the first day and we don’t know, tomorrow he might be stiff so we’ll just keep going day-to-day here. Nothing this weekend obviously. We’ll push this and see how he goes. His timing needs to get there. Also his conditioning also has to get there.”

The follow-up was about how the Ontario product is moving out on the ice:

“Yeah he’s been on the ice by himself with Wolfey (Jake Wolff, Head Strength and Conditioning Coach) a few days here. So he’s been skating. So it wasn’t unexpected that he’d start to feel a little bit better. He’s been talking, his mobility, even just his walking is feeling a lot better. So that’s great to hear.”

While this doesn’t provide any clarity as to his return that’s the latest on him.
