Note: The Jets learned in the early afternoon that they had lost goalie Kaapo Kahkonen to waivers after the Avalanche claimed him. They played their home opener last night when they welcomed the Hawks to town and it was looking bleak but late in the game Mark Scheifele tied it and then he won it courtesy of the 300th NHL goal of his career. With the win they improve to 2-0 on the season. They will practice today at 12 noon at Canada Life as they get set to welcome the Wild to town tomorrow night so stay tuned for the Practice Report.
Note II: It’s time for the Moose to play their season opener as they get things started in Iowa against the Wild. We know that Jets prospect Chaz Lucius won’t be playing as he didn’t make the trip to Des Moines as the team practices “ice time management” for him. They are trying to ensure he has a healthy season. The only other question mark is Brad Lambert who left practice on Thursday after suffering a stinger. I was told he was fine but probably worth noting. Puck drop is at 6 PM CT.
Note III: Some Jets prospects were in action on Friday night. In the OHL 2024 4th rounder Kevin He had another big night with 1G 2A which got him up to 7G 7A for 14 points in 5GP which has him tied for 2nd in the OHL in points. His best friend Kieron Walton (2024 6th) who plays for Sudbury had one goal which gives him 3G 5A for 8 points in 6GP. Over in the WHL it was a 1G (nice wrister) 1A night for 2023 1st rounder Brayden Yager who is up to 4G 3A for 7 points in 3GP.
Note IV: Normally I’d be telling you to tune into the Illegal Curve Hockey Show at 9 AM CT but it is the holiday of Yom Kippur so we will instead be coming your way tomorrow from 9 to 11 AM CT.
