Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Day 13 interviews: In case you missed anything from Tuesday we spoke with Rasmus Kupari (watch here), Mark Scheifele (watch here) as well as head coach Scott Arniel (watch here).

Note: The Jets were working as two groups on Tuesday which really seemed to reflect the next round of cuts. Seems likely they may wait to make any cuts till Saturday as then they’ll know if they’ve come through the last two exhibitions games unscathed although cuts could happen anytime. We’ll have things covered so keep it locked here and make sure you’re subscribed to our YouTube channel. The game group are slated to be on the ice at 10:30 AM downtown at Canada Life Centre. Puck drop is 7 PM as they take on the Flames with the game being televised on TSN.

Note II: The AHL club of Manitoba continued their training camp with 27 skaters on the ice trying to make an impression on the Moose coaching staff. They are back on the ice at hockey for all centre at 10 AM.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Elias Salomonsson set for next test vs. Flames. Pretty clear the organization has high hopes for him.

Winnipeg Sun: Could a philosophy change be on horizon for Jets’ offence? A top nine. A top nine.  How long have we been talking about the Jets need to have a top nine.

Winnipeg Free Press: Scheifele eager to play on penalty kill. (Paywall). It will be interesting to see how number 55 does in this new/old role.

Winnipeg Free Press: As roster cuts loom, boys on the bubble make case to crack Jets lineup. (Paywall). It has to take a lot of discipline to be aware of where you sit in the hierarchy but also to try to put it aside.

Global News: ‘Powerhouse’ Central Division has 7 playoff contenders. With the improvements in Nashville and Utah it seems like the challenge for a spot in the Central might be a little tough when you consider Colorado, Dallas and Winnipeg in the mix.

NHL.com: Dylan Coghlan enjoying opportunity with Jets. That word ‘opportunity’ gets thrown around a lot but this training camp the opportunity is certainly there for a defenceman to claim a spot.
