Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: While there is still no news about Cole Perfetti and a new contract (yet) he did provide some hope that things will be resolved soon at the NHL Media Tour.

Note II: The Young Stars tournament in BC gets underway for the Jets tomorrow. Check out the full roster here and we’ve got the full breakdown from yesterday with lines, D pairs, media availabilities and a health update on Chaz Lucius here.

Note III: Be sure to check back here and on our YouTube page as we resume interviews with Jets players this week. Today we are back chatting with the NHL guys.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Brad Lambert looking to park himself in Jets’ second-line garage. Despite his success last season the Finnish centre is taking a day by day approach as he looks to earn a spot on the Winnipeg roster.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets prospect Brayden Yager opening eyes at rookie camp with his wicked shot. He was certainly noticeable on the ice on Wednesday.

Winnipeg Free Press: Brayden Yager makes amazing first impression. You only get one chance to make a first impression and the Saskatoon product hit his out of the park according to Mike.

Sportsnet: ‘I love Winnipeg’: Jets’ Cole Perfetti on contract talks, healthy scratches. One thing I find notable is that Perfetti references the city as one of the reasons for wanting to stay with the Jets. Often you’ll hear players speak about “the guys” as justification for wanting to stay but with the Ontario product he is committed to becoming a Manitoban and that isn’t an insignificant thing.

The Athletic: Each NHL team’s most interesting prospect heading into the 2024-25 season. (Paywall). No real surprise that he’s got Brad Lambert in this spot for Winnipeg.
