Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Keeping you up-to-date with all the latest pro hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: Training camp is around the corner and the Jets still have Cole Perfetti left to sign. Although Darren Dreger shed some light on the situation Friday morning.

Note II: Last Friday we learned the lineup for Winnipeg at next weekend’s Young Stars tournament in BC.

Jets news:

Sportsnet: Which NHL teams are best at drafting goalies? Josh looks at teams drafting from 2010 to 2019 and he defines “a successful draft pick as a goalie who has appeared in 75 games”. Of course for the Jets they are listed in Tier III (one goalie hitting the 75 games mark) but given the fact that Connor Hellebuyck has played 505 regular season games for Winnipeg since entering the league in 2015-16 it doesn’t really leave a lot of games for any other drafted goalies within the organization. And prior to his becoming the starter the Thrashers drafted Ondrej Pavelec (398 games) was manning the net from 2009-10 until Hellebuyck took over. Of course 2013 2nd rounder Eric Comrie, who is back in the Winnipeg fold, sits at 57 games so he could still get there. And I’d be remiss not to mention 2022 7th rounder Dom DiVincentiis who won the OHL Goalie of the Year in 2022-23 and 2023 5th rounder Thomas Milic who was named WHL Goalie of the Year also in 2022-23.
