Manitoba Moose sign Ashton Sautner, Ben Zloty and Dawson Barteaux to two-year AHL deals

Pair of Manitobans and an Albertan who played in Winnipeg.

Moose making some additions today as they’ve added a pair of guys who played defence for Manitoba last year in Ashton Sautner and Dawson Barteaux. They are also adding another defenceman in Alberta product Ben Zloty who played junior hockey for the Winnipeg Ice before turning pro with the Texas Stars last season. All three get two-year AHL deals.

He was born in Flin Flon and now lives in Alberta but Ashton Sautner will be calling Manitoba home for two more seasons. He’s already been in Winnipeg for two years with the Moose although those were on NHL deals. Last season he played 65 games for the Moose as he helped guide the next generation of prospect Dmen. He spent a lot of time with 2020 6th rounder Tyrel Bauer but also alongside 2019 2nd rounder Simon Lundmark and even recent college signee Dylan Anhorn. Last season was his most productive offensively as he scored five goals.

Heading to Foxwarren, Manitoba the addition of Dawson Barteaux I thought was a pleasant surprise as he really thrived last season in his home province. He had his most productive season as a pro putting up five goals along with 14 assists for 19 points in 45 games.

Coming from Calgary left shot defenceman Ben Zloty was in Winnipeg with the Ice for four seasons (although one of those years was a bubble season when the WHL played in Regina).  He spent most of last year in the ECHL with the Idaho Steelheads picking up seven goals and 16 assists in 42 games. He also played four games for the Stars.
