The Florida Panthers won their first ever Stanley Cup championship this evening as they defeated the Edmonton Oilers 2-1 in game 7. While the game itself was a good one, the focus after the contest was on comments made by former Jets head coach Paul Maurice towards his old team.
He was asked about his time in Winnipeg and then he said this:
“If I could have one thing more it would be for the Winnipeg Jets to win the next Stanley Cup.”

In addition to Paul Maurice, former associate coach Jamie Kompon picked up his second Cup while former Jets Dmitry Kulikov and Kevin Stenlund also won.
