This is what he had to say about the 2023-24 campaign:

“As I reflect on this past season, I can’t help but acknowledge the unique passion and commitment that sets Winnipeg Jets fans apart. Never has this been more evident than during our most recent playoff games where the entire hockey world, from broadcasters to opposing players alike, took notice of the undeniable energy of our fans. The Hockey News, as an example, declared Canada Life Centre as the top playoff atmosphere in the National Hockey League – something all Winnipeg Jets fans should be proud of.

While the early playoff exit brought deep disappointment, there was much to be celebrated from this past season. A fourth-place overall finish in the league, winning the William M. Jennings trophy for allowing the fewest goals against through the season, and another Vezina Trophy nomination for Connor Hellebuyck were notable achievements reflecting a season founded on hard work and team play.

Much of that success came from the leadership of our coaching staff, and I want to express my profound gratitude to retiring coach Rick Bowness. His 2,726 games as an NHL head or assistant coach are the most by anyone in league history, and it comes as no surprise that he has been nominated for the Jack Adams Trophy for NHL Coach of the Year. Rick embodies the winning culture and attitude we strive for and his unwavering commitment to excellence has left an indelible mark on our team and organization.

Please know that our players have committed themselves to an off-season aimed at getting our team to the next level and to challenge for the Stanley Cup. I can assure you this is a commitment our entire organization is focused on, and that we will continue to invest in the necessary resources to give our team, our fans, this city, and this province every opportunity to celebrate that championship together. As we look ahead, we are also very excited about the calibre of young prospects developing in our system, many of whom we believe will allow us to remain a legitimate contender for years to come.

In the meantime, from all of us at True North and the Winnipeg Jets, thank you for your unwavering support and the confidence you have placed in us with your investment.”
