Note: The Jets and Moose are now both done for the season.
Note II: While it looked like our end of season Moose media interviews were gonzo they have been found(o) which means we’ll have lots of video chats coming your way with members of the AHL club of Manitoba this week.
Note III: This morning there was some news as Adler Mannheim of DEL announced they had signed Kristian Reichel to a three-year contract to play in Germany. Reichel was basically a home grown product as he spent the last six years in Winnipeg which included playing 15 games with the Jets.
Breaking news: Jets head coach Rick Bowness has announced his retirement. The Jets will have a media availability with him and GM Kevin Chevledayoff to talk about his tenure in the NHL at 2 PM. Be sure you’re following our YouTube page as we will have their availability on there.
Jets news:
TheScore: A decade of NHL’s awful playoff format ought to be enough. The NHL loves to act like they never get anything wrong but it hardly seems like a reward to finish with the 2nd best record in the West and your reward is playing the 4th best team. The old format would have seen the Jets take on the Kings which would have been incredible for the storylines after the blockbuster trade between the two clubs last summer but also because it would have been a much easier path than the Avs.
The Hockey Writers: Jets facing a critical offseason decision with Nikolaj Ehlers. Connor checks in on the topic lots of folks have been discussing since the end of season media on Thursday and obviously something that has been speculated about for some time. With the Dynamic Dane about to enter the final season of his seven year contract it will only ramp up next year.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets’ season fades to black — again. (Paywall). Charles laments the match-up which was probably the worst one Winnipeg could have faced in the post-season.

Illegal Curve Hockey Show: Saturday Podcast. On the show this weekend we focused on whether Rick Bowness will return for the 2024-25 season behind the Jets bench. gave our thoughts on the end of season media availability with Winnipeg players, coach and GM, looked at which of the current Jets UFAs are likely to stay, discussed opportunities for players like Perfetti and Heinola and looked at the next crop of prospects (Lambert, Salomonsson, McGroarty, Barlow, etc). We also touched on Thomas Milic signing his ELC with the Jets. Guests were Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Free Press (who joined us for an extended chat) and Jon Goyens of TSN 690 and Daily Faceoff.
