The Moose played a heck of a first game against the Marlies on Wednesday night through 60 minutes but in extra time it was Toronto who took it to Manitoba and won the game 2-1. While they picked up an important point they’d need to keep adding to the standings bank with today’s re-match as they continue to try to lock down a playoff spot in the Central.

Moose got out to a 5-0 shot edge but it was the Marlies who got a favourable bounce as their power play was about to come to an end to take a 1-0 lead.
Anytime the Moose need a goal the dial up the Identity Line. Parker Ford gets his 15th of the season to make it 1-1. Although the joy would be short lived as former Moose Logan Shaw burned his old team again as he found some soft ice to give the Marlies a 2-1 lead.
The refs had to review this but called it a good goal early in the 2nd period to give Toronto a 3-1 lead.
Big response goal by the Moose as Henri Nikkanen continues to thrive for Manitoba. That’s his sixth goal of the season to bring the home team within one. And it’s a new career high in goals for the Jets 2019 draft pick.
Not sure a net can get any more open than this but the Marlies Alex Steeves puts it off the post. That could be big. Shortly thereafter Moose get a power play.
Instead of it being 4-2 for the visitors, instead Kyle Capobianco with his 10th goal of the season (which now leads the AHL in points among defencemen. He’s got 46 (10G 36A) in 61 games) to make it a 3-3 game.
Good start to the 3rd by the home team as Carson Golder gives Manitoba their first lead of the game. That was his first of the season and first in the AHL. 4-3 for the Moose. That would turn out to be the game-winning goal.
Moose hang on for the 4-3 win as they take three of four points this weekend in the two-game set with the Marlies. That’s big as they move 9 points up on the Wild and 10 up on the Wolves for the 5th and final playoff spot. They are also just three back of Stars for 4th.
