TSN Insider Darren Dreger is reporting that the “Winnipeg Jets and New Jersey Devils are closing on trade sending Tyler Toffoli to Wpg”. Dreger saying he thinks it’s a 2nd round pick in 2025 and a 3rd round pick in 2024.
That’s big.
Update: Darren Dreger confirms the trade. “Trade call complete. Devils trade Tyler Toffoli to Winnipeg for a 2nd in 2025 and a 3rd in 2024. New Jersey retained 50% of Toffoli’s remaining salary.”
Toffoli has 26 goals and 18 assists for 44 points in 61 games for the Devils. Toffoli won the Stanley Cup with the Los Angeles Kings in 2013-14. It’s interesting to note that Toffoli played with Sean Monahan while both players were members of the Calgary Flames organization (2021-22) as well as when both players played for the OHL’s Ottawa 67’s (2011-2012).
It looks like the Jets 2nd line is solidified now with Nikolaj Ehlers – Sean Monahan – Tyler Toffoli.
