Note: While most of the Jets are off for All-Star weekend three members of the team (Connor Hellebuyck, Kyle Connor and head coach Rick Bowness) are in Toronto for the festivities. If you are interested the Skills Competition gets underway at 6 PM CST.
Note II: Be sure to join us tomorrow for the 15th Anniversary of the Illegal Curve Hockey Show. From the start back in 2009 on Red River Radio (Kick FM) to the move to Sportsradio 1290 which became TSN 1290 to our present incarnation on YouTube it has been a great decade and a half talking hockey with the boys and all of you. The show starts at 9 AM.
Note III: The Moose are looking to keep their winning ways rolling along as they go for their fourth straight victory this evening in Milwaukee against the Admirals. The only hiccup is the team they face tonight have won 11 straight games (in fact they haven’t yet lost in 2024) so this won’t be an easy task as they look to take down the team sitting 26 points ahead of them in the standings. Puck drop is at 7 PM CST.
Update: Some big news this morning as it is official that the Jets and Habs have a deal in place that is sending Sean Monahan to Winnipeg for draft picks.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Three ambitious centre targets for Jets. A number of very good but potentially costly options for Winnipeg and Scott even throws in a pair of honourable mentions to consider.
The Hockey Writers: Jets trading for Chris Tanev would be the perfect deadline move. It would certainly shore up the right side of the D with someone who has already spent some time in Manitoba. The purported cost (2nd round pick and a prospect) is not prohibitive either.
Sportsnet: Bowness on why Dubois trade helped convince Hellebuyck to re-sign with Jets. This article won’t really wow Jets fans as it is written at All-Star weekend and, I’d suggest, the target audience isn’t those who follow the team. That isn’t to say it isn’t worth reading just that it won’t provide hardcore fans of this hockey club with any new insight.
Jets video:
TSN: Hellebuyck says that goaltending is a ‘different sport … just on the same ice’. Connor Hellebuyck explains how he sees the goalie position evolving and if there’s anything he wishes people understood about NHL goaltending.
