Dominic Toninato clears waivers; Winnipeg Jets can assign him to the Manitoba Moose

The veteran forward is likely heading back to the Moose.

The Jets placed veteran forward Dominic Toninato on waivers on Thursday for purposes of assignment to the Manitoba Moose. He has already cleared waivers once at the start of the season but since he’s been with Winnipeg for more than 30 days the team needed to place him through waivers in order to reset the clock.

The clock has struck 1 PM CST and he was not claimed according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet meaning the Minnesotan can be assigned to the Moose where he’s played nine games this season. He has two goals and four assists.

This news is good for both the NHL and AHL clubs of Winnipeg. The Jets will have a well known vet that can be their 13th forward or play spot duty if required who now has a reset waiver clock while the Moose get a solid pro who brings a positive work ethic and attitude even when he’s down in the American Hockey League.

Manitoba is in action this evening as they begin a two-game set against Milwaukee starting at 7 PM.
