Manitoba Moose began weekend with a win and they end it with a victory as they defeat IceHogs 3-1

Recap of the game

The Moose got themselves back on the right track on Friday night against their division rival as they finally defeated an IceHogs team that they had gone 0-3-0-0 against before that contest. That win gave them victories in two straight.

Lineup news:

Only one change for the Moose today as Nikita Chibrikov (illness) missed his first game of the season. Nicholas Jones drew back in. No changes to the D. Collin Delia remains between the pipes.

Moose lineup:

Malott – Lambert – Ford
Bongiovanni – Lucius – Reichel
Suess – Toninato – Jones
Torgersson – Zhilkin – Viel

Capobianco – Stewart
Sautner – Lundmark
Kniazev – Bauer

Delia
Salminen

Notable:

Moose wore RCMP 150 jerseys for today’s game which were, in my opinion, incredible. The AHL club of Winnipeg are wearing these in honour of 150 years of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Canada.

Here is a shot of them from warmup.

The home team had as good a start as they could have asked for as Jeff Malott got the Moose on the board courtesy of his seventh goal of the season early in the 1st.

Jeff Malott came to play today as he protected the puck, fed it to Artemi Kniazev at the point who fired it on net and Parker Ford deflected it home. Made it 2-0 for the Moose courtesy of Ford’s third of the season.

Goaltending has been solid during this stretch as Collin Delia showed stopping this 2 on 0 attempt to preserve a one goal lead for his team.

Wyatt Bongiovanni had a slow start to his campaign this season as he came into training camp dealing with a groin issue. That is clearly in the past as he scored his sixth of the season which was this beauty snipe upstairs which gives him goals in three straight games.

We spoke to Jets 2019 2nd rounder Simon Lundmark about his game this week and one thing he mentioned was playing a little more physical. This hip check would count as added physicality.

There was almost a Gordie Howe as Wyatt Bongiovanni was an assist away from that feat as he dropped the gloves with Colton Dach as the 2nd period winds down.

After he recently scored his first goal of the season Jeffrey Viel was looking for more as he rang this shot off the post.

Brad Lambert took this alley-oop pass and converts it to a partial breakaway. There was no penalty call as he got taken out which he vehemently disagreed with.

If this was Jeopardy the question would be: Who are two teams that have faced each other five times in 19 games as there was some fun at the end of this game. Jeff Malott looked like he picked up that move from his brother Mike.

The Moose began the weekend with a win and they end it with a victory as they defeated the IceHogs 3-1 to pick up their third straight W. Was a good few days for the Winnipeg organization vs the Chicago organization. Moose won twice, Jets won once.

Manitoba are now 9-9-0 on the season.
