When you see a player as tough as Moose captain Jimmy Oligny staying down on the ice and needing help off of it you know that he is dealing with something significant.
On Sunday in a game against the Rockford IceHogs he went into the boards on the play below and you could see from the play it didn’t look good:
That didn’t look good as Moose captain Jimmy Oligny was down on the ice after he looked like his leg jammed as he went for a hit.

Not surprisingly he left the game and didn’t return.
When we spoke to Moose head coach Mark Morrison on Tuesday he indicated they were dealing with an “ACL and an MCL issue” but that Oligny would still be seeing doctors for further testing.
We now know the results of that additional testing and the news is not good for the captain. Head coach Mark Morrison indicated today following practice that Oligny would undergo surgery to have the issue fixed. While he wouldn’t rule him out from returning this season he did say it would be months of recovery time for the Quebec product.
Tough news for the club and the person who despite it all had a smile on his face when he went to Siloam Mission on Wednesday morning to help out with the community and then again last night as he and several other Manitoba players met fans at the Jets game to sign autographs and gave them the jerseys off their backs.
